Overall, the stones range from a rich violet blue to a lite violet purple lavender coloring measuring 6.19 x 4.04 x 3.31 (0.55ct) and 6.19 x 4.22 x 3.17 (0.59ct). Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. Originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism; an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles.
