Featured in this lot is this 14.65 carat Tanzanite and diamond, 14k white gold necklace with GIA and AIG paperwork. The necklace shows electronically tested ladies cast and assembled 14k white gold pendant and unique 18k link and liquid chain with a lobster claw clasp. The center stone is an oval mixed cut tanzanite with a weight of 14.65 carats, eye clean clarity, type I with medium dark moderately strong bluish violet color (GIA bV 6/4), and a very good cut grade. The stone transmits light with no distortion and is transparent. The stone was graded loose prior to setting. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. Tanzanite is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The center stone is profusely decorated in a two tear halo design with 34 prong set round brilliant cut diamonds that have a weight of 0.96 carats, a clarity of VV-2 to VS-2, and a color gradient of F - H. The piece comes complete with AIG (American International Gemologists, a GIA certified lab AIG Appraisal Number#: 000720092003RTF) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $46,000.00.
