Featured in this lot is a 14k Gold Remington Model 1858 Hat/Lapel pin. The Remington Model 1858 was used by the Union forces during the US Civil War until it transitioned into the New Model Army version. The Remington 1858 Army version was a large-framed .44 caliber revolver with an eight-inch barrel, and a very powerful handgun. It saw much use during the westward expansion of the country, in part due to the relative ease of a quick reload with a spare, pre-loaded cylinder; this being an advantage over other revolver designs of the time. Buffalo Bill Cody used an ivory-handled New Model Army version until 1906. This pin has a brilliant "like new" appearance, locking securely into a jewelry clutch backing, in good overall condition, no marring noted. The total weight is 6.6 grams. Measures .5"W x 2.25"L
