Included in this lot for bidding is a collection of 8 boxes of 348 Winchester centerfire cartridges. One boxes is absent of three rounds, but each box contains 200 grain, silver tipped bullets. The 348 Winchester was designed and introduced in 1936 for the Winchester 71 lever action rifle. 348 Winchester ammo was a departure from most lever gun rounds by featuring a necked down case. Its parent case was the 50 WCF, a much older Winchester black powder cartridge. The 348 is very powerful, and in 1936 was one of the most powerful lever action rifle rounds in existence. An excellent round for the North American hunter, the 348 Winchester is capable of taking any game across North America, and excels at close range brush hunting. The collection is made up of 5 boxes of Winchester Super X, One box of Winchester Super X Western, and 2 boxes of Winchester Super X Commemorative. The standard Super X boxes measure 6 5/8" wide, 3 7/8" deep, and 1 1/2" thick.
