For your bidding pleasure in this lot is a sheepskin vellum property title written in Old English and dated 1606. Sheepskin was the most commonly used vellum for legal deeds over the past five centuries in Great Britain. This is most likely because fraud can be more easily detected on it than on calf vellum. This title measures 24" x 18" when unfolded. When folded, it measures 6 ½" x 5". On the outside, when folded, is the date of August 2nd 4 James 1607. The outside also has the parties' names, Harman to Stannande, for the "sale of 4 clove of land with hare path in Peasenhalle Suffolk". There is some fade and wear along the crease folds, but this is in good condition, overall, for being over 400 years old.
