This is an exceptional, early 16th century Spanish Nueva Cadiz large trade bead necklace. This necklace has eleven large, long, compound three layer square sided long beads. These beads are layered with a navy blue core, thin white, and bright blue outer. The twelfth bead is a white centered, clear blue square sided shaped cane. The cane beads are 2 3/4" to 3 1/4" long by 3/4" X 3/4". The twelve canes are separated by five different multi eye beads and have a clear red bead on each end. The spacer beads are Murriene style. The center bead is a 1 1/2" X 1/2", yellow round tube with great trailing and eyes of green, blue, and white. The total length of the necklace is 52". These beads are in good condition and have slight damage on the ends of two.
