Offered in this lot is a super rare 1770-1780's Revolutionary War Soldiers Canteen. This excellent high quality original Military style Wooden Water Canteen measures about 8 1/2” long sitting on end and 6” x 8" in diameter at its ends. Colonial and Revolutionary War Era Army and Militia Soldiers would be required to bring a portable water canteen when reporting for duty. This example has a screw in wooden cap/plug. Two of the 4 original forged metal bands are intact, a bit loose, yet still fit properly in place. There is a tag (1950's) attached to the canteen on one side, calling it a "Brandy Flask", and on the other side, "pictured w/ Mary French page 141 Echoes Of Glory". This is an impressive addition to any Revolutionary War Collection or period display.
