For your consideration is this carved Hopewell steatite duck effigy pipe circa 1800s. The pipe is hand carved out of steatite and shows excellent attention to detail. The pipe features a rounded edge and semi-flat bottom for easy handling. The bowl is large and sits on the ducks back while the shaft of the pipe features a nice texture. The pipe is in good condition and shows some wear from its very old age, but has been preserved well. The pipe measures 5 1/2" L x 1 15/16" W x 2" H.
