Featured in this lot we have a collection of Victorian gold and silver ornamental hat pins originating from the 1800's. Also called hat pins. The pins show gold, gold filled, silver, and sterling silver construction with cut stone ornamentation. The collection consists of sixteen hat pins with their paper backings showing four gold or gold filled pins and twelve silver or sterling silver pins. The pins show a array of designs and set with one or more faux stones. The stones display colors of green, orange, red, blue, white, and purple. The pins where used as accessories and ornamental pieces primarily for women in the 19th century. The pieces show good condition overall with some minor wear across the pins and backings. The pins individually approximately weight a total of .96 oz and the longest one measures 3" long. These pins have been valued at approximately $150-$200 per pin (for a total of $2400 to $3200 for the entire set of 16). Provenance: From a New York City jewelry store that operated from the 1800's (19th Century) until its closing in 1920. The contents were attic stored until their sale in 2019 in Wyoming.
