Featured in this lot we have a E. D. Loomis & Co. of Dayton, Ohio and James Cock Piqua, Ohio manufactured .48 caliber percussion cap single shot rifle originating from the mid 1800's. This is a circa 1840's percussion kentucky long rifle with large heavy octagon barrel and high grade wood. The rifle shows a heavy 34 3/4" long octagonal barrel, high grade tiger maple stock, percussion cap hammer and lock plate, and brass trigger guard and butt plate. The top of the barrel is marked "J. Cock Piqua O." with the barrel showing a bright finish. The lock plate shows faint vine etching and marked "E. D. Loomis & Co". The maple stock displays some light wear from use and a dark paint or tar finish. The rifle shows a good working action and double trigger system. The rifle is in good condition overall with some wear and rust due to age and use. No Serial Number. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
