Included in this lot we have a pair of United States Internal Revenue manufactured tobacco special tax coupon originating from 1878 and 1879. These special tax stamps where issued to dealers in tobacco products as a tax to allow the selling and distribution of said tobacco products. These stamps where unused and are left blank across the lines for the business, state, taxed amount, and more. The stamps are marked on the main section reading "Stamp For Special Tax United States Internal Revenue - Received From_ the sum of_ /00 Dollars, for Special Tax on the Business of Dealer in Manufactured Tobacco to be carried on at_ State of _ for the period represented by the Coupon or Coupons hereto attached" with sections for the date and with the IRS seal at the bottom. Both coupons are set into simple wall hanging picture frames. The pieces show good condition overall with some punches taken out indicating they where not used. The frames measure 10 1/4" wide by 8 1/4" tall with the stamps measuring 9 1/2" wide by 7 1/8" tall.
