This is a rare first edition, circa 1872-73, copy of "Wonders of the Yellowstone" edited by James Richardson. This is one of the earliest known Yellowstone Park books. The piece shows seventeen excellent engraving illustrations and was published by Scribner, Armstrong and Company in 1873. This includes the fold out, engraved, color hand tinted map showing the locations of the Yellowstone National Park and its prospective railroad connections with the eastern states by the National Railway Publications Company Phila. The book shows a wonderful maroon binding with gilt gold accents and a campfire and wooded scene. This is a rare piece. The condition of this book is good, with wear to the outside cover and browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book; the map included shows a rip, but otherwise is in good overall condition. The measurements of this book are 5.25" x 7.75".
