For your consideration is a fourth edition copy of "The Wild North Land" written by Major W.F. Butler, C.B., F.R.G.S. (1838-1910) and published by Porter & Coates, Philadelphia, 1874. The full title includes, "Being the Story of a Winter Journey, with Dogs, across Northern North America." Born at Ballyslateen, Suirville, Ireland on October 31, 1838, Sir William Francis Butler was one of the great soldier-adventurers of the nineteenth century. This book shows a green cover with gold gilt lettering and a black stamped design. There are illustrations throughout, including a portrait of the author as the front piece. It is in good condition considering its age, showing some sign of wear on the edges of the cover and binding. The measurements of this book are 7 1/2" x 5 1/4".
