For your consideration is an illustrated first edition of "The Life and Travels of General Grant" written by Hon. J.T. Headley and published in 1879. The book is a wonderful biography of the famed Civil War General and later President of the United States. The book is profusely illustrated with 55 full-page illustrations and numerous in-text designs throughout. An entertaining biography of U.S. Grant, the majority of which is concerned with his time as a President and as an agent of diplomacy. Grant's trips to Egypt, Italy, China, Spain, and other global destinations are recorded here, along with illustrations of the people and archaeological artifacts he saw on his soujourns. The green cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in nice condition, scuffing noted to edges. Intact pages feature top, bottom, and fore edge painting, age tanning. Clear protective mylar dust jacket. Book measures 5.75"W x 9"L x 2"D, weight 3lb, 10oz.
