For your consideration is this 1880-1889 Supplement to the Daily Oregonian with landscape and building drawings done by J.T. Pickett (1857-1889). Pickett was born December 31st, 1857 in Bellingham, Washington and at an early age he demonstrated artistic ability. Both his foster parents and his teachers at the Union Academy, in Olympia Washington, took interest and aided him. He attended art school in California. Pickett passed away August 28th, 1889 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 31. This page was a supplement to the Oregon newspaper, The Daily Oregonian. Supplements are collections of papers that deal with related issues or topics, are published as a separate issue of the journal or as part of a regular issue, and may be funded by sources other than the journal's publisher. The top of the page reads, "Real Estate Agents And Brokers, Spokane Falls / Investments Made For Non-Residents", below that it reads, "Issued As A Supplement To The Daily Oregonian". The sketches show various locations around Spokane, Washington in the 1880s such as: Looking Up Howard Street From The Island, the Residence of J.J. Browne, the First National Bank, the Arlington Hotel, the Bank of Spokane, and the Northern Pacific Depot to name a few. The bottom of the paper reads, "Spokane Falls, W.T. From Sketches By J.T. Pickett". The page shows fair condition with tears to the top and left side of the page, but is still readable and shows good images. The page is set on a large piece of foam board and is plastic wrapped. The page measures 19 1/8" L x 24 1/8" W.
