Featured in this lot is this Anchor Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Co. ledger circa 1881 and was displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The ledger features a wonderfully and professionally kept ledger from the Anchor Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Co., out of Colorado and shows A.H. Bayless as the supervisor during the time period recorded within. The Anchor Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Co. was one of the many mining enterprises that emerged during the American mining boom of the late 19th century, representing both economic opportunity and speculative risk for the populace. Companies like Anchor Consolidated attracted scores of laborers, engineers, and investors, all hoping to capitalize on the rich veins of ore rumored to lie beneath the rugged terrain. Its operations brought jobs, boosted local economies, and contributed to the rapid growth of mining towns. However, like many such ventures, it also mirrored the boom-and-bust nature of the era, where fortunes could be made or lost overnight, leaving a lasting impact on the communities it touched and the landscape it helped shape. The ledger comes complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: 1881 Journal for the Anchor Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Co. A.H. Bayless, Supt. The condition of this Mining ledger is well preserved with some wear to the cover and browning to the pages consistent with age and use but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this ledger is 12 1/2" x 8". The collective weight of this ledger is 1lb 6oz.
