Featured in this lot is this 1887 first edition, hard cover copy of "Down The Great River" by Captain Willard Glazier. The book covers an account of the discovery of the true source of the Mississippi, together with views, descriptive and pictorial, of the cities, towns, villages, and scenery on the banks of the river—as seen during a canoe voyage of over three thousand miles from its head waters to the Gulf of Mexico. The book features numerous black and white illustrations and maps. The book cover displays a dark blue cloth cover with a gilt gold lettering and black river map design. The condition of this book is good, with wear and browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this book are 7 3/4" x 5 1/4.
