Featured in this lot is this 1889 1st edition Theodore Roosevelt "Winning of the West" vol. I & II. There are two books in this collection. The Winning of the West is a significant historical work by Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Published in four volumes between 1889 and 1896, the series explores the expansion of the American frontier and the role it played in shaping the nation's character and destiny. Roosevelt's work is both a historical narrative and a reflection of his views on American identity, manifest destiny, and the importance of the frontier in the nation's development. The condition of this pair of books is preserved with some wear tot he corners of the cover and to the spine of the book showing a tear, the pages show browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this pair of books is 9 1/4" x 6 3/8" x 1 3/8". The collective weight of this pair of books is 3lb 14oz.
