The lot features an original circa 1890-1891 Ledger Page from the same collection as the Statement of Blemmingham ledger book with original Northern Plains ledger art. The page shows a graphite and colored pencil ledger art from the Northern Plains, likely Sioux showing a Buffalo Bison kill scene. The piece shows a warrior or chief on horseback wearing a feather headdress war bonnet with the horse in yellow with a green lightning strike down the neck and shield on the back. In front of the horse is a large spontoon lance coup spear with long red and black clothe strip with feather border. On the left is the Buffalo Bison bleeding from the chest with arrow at center, above is a four-point morning star in blue with cross at center and below the horse is a rattle snake in graphite. The ledger has nice foxing and discoloration around the edges from early age. The piece is from the Blemmingham Ledger book, the very same as the 1871 Example that sold in our September 2021 sale for $1,107 (shown with bp). The ledger sheet measures 12” by 7 3/8”.
