For your consideration is this first edition of "Following the Guidon" by Elizabeth Custer, published in 1890. The book provides a riveting account of Army life on the Western Frontier during the mid to late 1800's as told by Elizabeth Custer who was the devoted and faithful wife of General George Armstrong Custer. This original first edition displays a green cover with gilt gold lettering "FOLLOWING THE GUIDON" with a spear holding two flags above and two crossed shells below. The book shows good condition overall with some light wear across the cover and spine due to age and use with the pages showing some tanning from age. The book measures 7 1/2" tall by 5 1/4" wide and 1 1/8" thick.
