For your consideration is this 1890 first edition copy of “Stanley's Wonderful Adventures in Africa” by J.T. Headley and Willis Johnson, taken from fragmentary writing of Stanley himself. From the title page: “Twenty Years of the most wonderful adventures the world has known. The most complete, authentic, and thrilling recital yet issued of all his noble, daring, marvelous adventures, grand discoveries, and signal triumphs in opening up a vast continent of untold wealth to the civilized world.” The book is 802 pages and "richly illustrated". It is bound in brown cloth and has a stamped gilt and black pictorial cover and spine. In addition to the numerous illustrations, the book also has a fold-out map. The condition of this book is good with no obvious signs of damage; it shows only a little wear to the cover and the spine consistent with its age. The pages also show browning, but the book is in good reading condition. The measurements of this book are 9" x 6 1/4".
