Featured in this lot is this 1891 double volume of “Personal Memoirs of P.H. Sheridan”. The front appears to be inscribed with an autograph and portrait engraving. The book was published by Charles L. Webster & Company, New York, in 1888 and press of Jenkins & McCowan. The set consists of first edition, 1888 dated and printed books and includes the complete set (Volume I & Volume II). The books have a vast wealth of information on the Civil War, specifically Sheridan's insights on the subject. Each volume contains different rare steel engraved portraits of Sheridan as front pieces, as well as portraits of other figures, such as Generals Gregg, Torbert, Merritt, James Wilson, Emory, Horatio Wright, and George A. Custer, and 9 maps of content ranging from Lieutenant Williamson. The condition of this book is good, with slight wear to the spine. The measurements of this book are 9 1/4" x 6 1/4".
