Featured in this lot is this first edition £1,000,000 Bank-Note by Mark Twain circa 1893. This Mark Twain Book is a short story by Mark Twain, first published in 1893, that follows an American man named Henry Adams who is stranded in London with no money. Two wealthy brothers give him a single £1,000,000 banknote as part of a bet to see if a man could survive for a month without spending any of it. Henry finds that merely possessing the note grants him instant credibility, luxury, and access to high society, despite his actual poverty. The story is a humorous and satirical exploration of wealth, perception, and social status, showcasing Twain's wit and critique of economic absurdities. The condition of this book is well preserved with little wear to the outside cover of the book with browning to the pages consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this book is 8" x 5 3/4". The collective weight of this book is 1lb 2oz.
