Featured in this lot is this 1899 first edition Sundown Leflare written and illustrated by Frederic Remington. This book was published by Harper & Brothers Publishers in 1899 and shows illustrated brown cloth cover with gilt spine lettering. By the end of the 19th century, the West was "closing." This was the heyday of Easterners' fascination with a dying culture. Sundown Leflare is a Crow half-breed, who spent time scouting for the US Army as well as working as a trader in furs and skins. This compilation by Remington, tells Sundown's stories as a narrator letting his subject talk about whatever is important to him. The condition of this book is good with some tearing to the first two pages but otherwise is in good well preserved condition and shows browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this book are 7 1/2" x 5 1/8" x 3/4".
