The curved forms, lightness, grace, comfort and asymmetry of this period replaced the more formal, boxlike and massive furniture of the Louis XIV style. Excellent quality with superb craftsmanship, the commode is in wonderfully preserved condition, insect damage to backboards, some splits and minor fading to two-board top, nicely finished.
