For your consideration is a Rare Late-18th-Century to 19th-Century Louis XV Portuguese Dom José I Rococo Walnut Burlwood Marble Top Bombé Sideboard China Cabinet. Portuguese late-18th-century to 19th-century furniture is a striking fusion of European historical revivals (Baroque, Rococo, and Empire) and rich colonial aesthetics. Distinctive features include dark exotic woods, intricate floral carvings, bold turned legs, and ornate brass hardware. Pieces frequently emulated the opulent curves of the Baroque and Rococo (Dom José I) eras. In Portugal, the Louis XV furniture era is known as the Dom José I (D. José I, King Joseph I) style, which dominated between 1750 and 1777. It adapted French Rococo aesthetics, blending them with robust Italian Baroque lines, English Chippendale structural framework, and regional craftsmanship. This era is celebrated for its dynamic curves and high-quality construction. Pieces feature swooping, undulating, or "bombé" fronts. The Bombé Sideboard China Cabinet features a large centre mirror, beautiful leaded and beveled glass on the bombé upper section, four glass cabinets each with shelves. The outer glass cabinets have a simple geometric design that is subtle and still allows you to see inside clearly. Centre cabinets display square inset doors. The cornice has a beautifully handcarved floral pediment, acanthus floral relief carvings coming down the front face trim. Stamped brass escutcheon locking hardware on each section. A stunning piece of history and craftsmanship. The Bombé Sideboard China Cabinet is in amazingly well preserved condition. Slight damage observed The cabinet is in three main pieces including the sideboard bottom (marble top is removable as well), mirror section (two hand carved arm / legs are separate and removable), and the upper curved leaded beveled cut glass cabinet. Overall together the cabinet is 60.25-inches wide by 21.25-inches deep and 90.5-inches high. Bottom sideboard by itself is 39-inches high, mirror is 58.5-inches wide by 17 1/8-inches high and the top cabinet is 34.75-inches high, 15-inches deep and 55.75-inches wide.
