For your consideration is this 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Corner Chair, circa mid to late 1700s. Historically known as a roundabout chair or elbow chair) this chair features a floral design upholstered seat in colours of blue, cream and gold. Two separate carved floral pierced splats flank three turned upright columns to anchor the low back, acanthus leaf decorated cabriole legs with trifid ball and claw feet. The upholstered removable seat, with a cloth skirt added, allowed for the chair to be used with a chamber pot. A single, continuous semicircular horseshoe wooden rail serves as both the armrests and the low back support. A standard chair has a square front, but a corner chair aligns diagonally, a "diamond alignment". The primary leg faces directly forward, two legs flank the sides, and one leg supports the back. This lovely corner chair is in nice condition, slight dents observed, upholstery is in good overall condition. Measures 14" x 21.25" x 21.5"H, weight is 8lb, 4oz.
