The lot features an 18th-century chiseled and pierced hunting dagger originating in Spain and later used in early Spanish-American territory during the 18th to early 19th-centuries. The piece exhibits beautiful high craftsmanship showing a chiseled and pierced design in the forged metal having two eagle like birds at the base of the knife with filigree leaf pierced and inlaid brass design further accented by chiseled accents and beautiful engravings. The handle exhibits a classic dagger shape with brass hilt and ball pommel and twisted wire wrapping. The blade is thought to have been brought over to the America's and traded or recovered during the conflicts between the early Southern Plains Native American Indians and the Spanish during the 18th to 19th century. The knife is well kept and displays beautifully. Measures overall 11.5-inches in total length by 1.25-width.
