For your consideration is a First Edition of “Story of the Wild West and Camp Fire Chats” by Buffalo Bill, 1902, publisher Charles C. Thompson CO., Chicago. A full and complete history of the renowned pioneer quartette: Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson, and Buffalo Bill, as well as Sam Houston, Generals Crooks and Miles and also George Armstrong Custer. Full of graphic descriptions of wild life and thrilling adventures by famous heroes of the frontier as well as Sitting Bull, Geronimo and many other famous frontiersmen, Indian fighters and Great Indian Chiefs. The book is a record of exciting events on the western borders pushed westward to the sea; massacres, desperate battles, extraordinary bravery, marvelous fortitude, astounding heroism, grand hunts, savage encounters, adventures by flood and field, rollicking anecdotes, tales of sorrow, droll stories, curious escapades, and a melange of incidents that make up the melodrama of civilization in its march over mountains and prairies to the Pacific, including a description of Buffalo Bill's conquests in England with his Wild West exhibition where royalty from all the european nations, paid him a generous homage and made his wonderful show the greatest success of modern times. William Frederick Cody (1846-1917), better known as Buffalo Bill, was a larger than life American soldier, Army scout, bison hunter, and showman, his experiences in the early west involved the settlement of the plains, the Pony Express, a military guide, hunting buffalo and interaction with the Indians. He later became world-famous for Buffalo Bill's Wild West, a touring show which traveled around the United States, Great Britain, and Continental Europe. Audiences were enthusiastic about seeing a piece of the American West. The blue cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover features an illustrated cover with gilt lettering adorning the spine and cover of the book. Covers and edges exhibit scuffing, staining, and fading, loose spine still attached. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing throughout. Measures 5.875"W x 8.375"L x 1.75"D, weight is 2lb, 4oz.
