Offered in this lot are first edition books, "A Daughter of the Sioux" and "An Apache Princess", by General Charles King. First is a scarce edition of "A Daughter of the Sioux" by Gen. Charles King, published in 1903 by The Hobart Company. It is illustrated by Frederick Remington and Edwin Willard Deming. "A Daughter of the Sioux" is a classic tale of the Old West and the demise of the Indian. The second book is "An Apache Princess", also by King and illustrated by Remington and Deming. This book was published by the Hobart Co. in 1903. General Charles King was a United States soldier and a distinguished writer. He graduated from West Point in 1866 and served in the Army during the Indian Wars under George Crook. He was wounded in the arm, forcing his retirement from the regular army. During this time, he became acquainted with Buffalo Bill Cody. King would later write scripts for several of Cody's silent films. He wrote and edited over 60 books and novels. Both books have the name of a previous owner written on the first page after the front cover. The book's construction is in good condition, with only a few blemishes and marks on the spine and the front covers. The book measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 1 1/4".
