For your consideration is this 1904 Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company advertisement showing the new Studebaker Sensible Oscillating Bob Sleds. Studebaker Bro. Mfg. Co. was founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868 and was originally a coachbuilder, manufacturing wagons, buggies, carriages and harnesses. They then entered the automotive business in 1902 and sold vehicles under the name, "Studebaker Automobile Company". The last line of automobiles produced by Studebaker rolled of the line in 1966. This advertisement is showing the new sensible oscillating bob sleds made by Studebaker. These bob sleds were made to be drawn by horses in the wintry conditions. This advertisement is from the Studebaker Northwestern Repository in Portland, Oregon. The top and bottom of the advertisement show all the different styles and sizes of the bob sleds that were available for purchase, showing single and double row bob sleds. The middle of the advertisement reads, "Studebaker Sensible Oscillating Bob Sleds / Made Under Common Sense Patents". The bottom left reads, "Repositories Portland, Oregon, New York, Salt Lake, Chicago, Kansas City, San Francisco, St. Joseph, and Denver, Co. / General Office and Factories South Bend, Ind.", while the bottom right hand corner reads, "Studebaker Bros. MFG. Co. Northwestern Repository, Portland Oregon U.S.A.". In the bottom middle is a raffle ticket for 25 dollars in merchandise if you were the winner and was presented by J.F. McKendrick, a dealer of dry goods, Gent's furnishings, boots, shoes and holiday goods. The advertisement shows fair condition with obvious tears throughout the edges of the advertisement.
