For your consideration is this 1907 Western Electric Company wall mount crank phone. Founded in 1869 by Elisha Gray and Enos Barton in Cleveland, Ohio, the Western Electric Company evolved from a telegraph supply shop into the primary manufacturing arm of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T). It supplied the Bell System with telephones, cables, and equipment, becoming a dominant force in electronics, audio, and, later, vacuum tubes until its 1984 divestiture. This wall mount crank telephone shows a quarter sawn oak construction with two bells at the top and an adjustable arm set in the center of the box. Below the box is a small writing desk. Above the arm it is painted reading, "Western Electric Company / Patented See Dates Inside". The inside shows most of the components and is marked with instructions and patent dates. The patent dates read, "Pat'D In U.S.A. / APR. 30, 1907 / Pat. App'd For". The telephone shows good condition overall with wear present on the interior components and slight wear present on the exterior. The ear piece has been broken off but the wire is still present. The hand crank does turn the interior gear. The telephone is not in working order. It measures 23 1/4" L x 9 3/8" W x 13 3/4" D and weighs 26 pounds.
