For your consideration is a scarce 1908 edition of "Haynes Guide to Yellowstone Park: A Practical Handbook" by A.B. Guptill, illustrated and published by F. Jay Haynes, renown for his photos and guides of Yellowstone Park, was a professional photographer, publisher, and entrepreneur from Minnesota who played a major role in documenting through photographs the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. He became both the official photographer of the Northern Pacific Railway and of Yellowstone National Park as well as operating early transportation concessions in the park. His photographs were widely published in articles, journals, books and turned into stereographs, and postcards in the late 19th and early 20th century. The guide contains dozens of illustrations, maps and diagrams. It is complete with the original fold out map inside the rear cover.
The guide shows good overall condition with some period marking in pencil on the first page, ink stains on bottom corners of cover and pages, rear cover lower third is torn, spine is torn . The book measures 4.75"W x 6.75"L. The fold out map measures 8"W x 9.75"L.
