This lot includes two (2) Rowland & Marcellus Co. (Staffordshire, England) decorated Transferware 10" plates: one Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition 1909 World's Fair Flow Blue China Plate commemorates the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition, a world's fair held in Seattle. Plate shows the medallion logo used for the fair depicting three women in a circle. Alaska is represented in the center with the woman holding gold, aurora borealis behind her. The Yukon is represented on the right with a train showing new commerce. The Pacific is represented by Japan, woman on left with ocean liner, showing increased trade. And, around the rolled rim are cartouches of the buildings built for the fair. Plate has deep flow blue coloring, deeply indented center - almost like a dish more than a plate. Also included is a Transferware Flow Blue 10" plate circa 1890s of Niagara Falls depicted in the center medallion surrounded by cartouches on the rolled rim of "Whirlpool Rapids", "The American Falls", "Walk Leading to Cave of the Winds", "Ice Bridge & Footpath Across Niagara River", "Luna Island from Goat Island" and "View from Prospect Point".
Overall in good condition with some crazing and slight edge chipping visible.
