This is lot features the "Haynes Official Guide Yellowstone National Park" published in 1912. The guide was illustrated and published by F. Jay Haynes, the official photographer of Yellowstone since the 1880's. The guide is profusely illustrated with many maps, photos, and illustrations. It is complete with the fold out map inside the back cover. Frank Jay Haynes, known as F. Jay or the Professor to almost all who knew him, was a professional photographer, publisher, and entrepreneur from Minnesota who played a major role in documenting through photographs the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. He became both the official photographer of the Northern Pacific Railwailway and of Yellowstone National Parkas well as operating early transportation concessions in the park. His photographs were widely published in articles, journals, books and turned into stereographs and postcards in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Haynes guide is in amazingly good condition, age tanning exhibited, no other obvious marring noted. It measures 4.75"W x 6.75"L x .5"D. The map measures 12.25"W x 13"L.
