Featured in this lot is this 1915 first edition copy of “Travels in Alaska” by John Muir. The book was printed in 1915 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Muir was a Scottish-American naturalist who campaigned extensively for the preservation of America's wilderness lands. He co-founded the Sierra Club and is often referred to as the "Father of the National Parks". The book describes the adventures and travels John Muir took across Alaska. The piece features twelve illustrations spread throughout the book. This hardcover book shows a tan cover with dark red lettering along the cover and spine with a color illustration across the top of the cover. The book shows good condition overall, with some light wear across the cover and wear and browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this book are 8 1/4" x 5 3/4".
