Featured in this lot are two wood crates from Bozeman, Montana and Minneapolis, Minnesota circa 1915-1940s. The first crate in this collection was used in two different businesses and locations. The crate is marked by Minnesota Linseed Oil Co., a paint store in Minneapolis, and by Jonas Henderson & Co., a hardware store in Bozeman, Montana. The sides of the crate read, "6•1•Gal. Cans / Minnesota Linseed Oil Co./ No label Required / In House Paints / Minneapolis, Minn." in black lettering, while the top reads, "Jonas Henderson & Co. Bozeman, Mont." also in black lettering. Jonas Henderson & Co. was in Bozeman between the years 1915 and 1920. The crate shows good useable and display condition with the top missing two boards and wear from use over the years. The crate measures 14 3/4" L x 23 1/4" W x 8" H. The second crate in this collection is from Hubbard Folding Box Co. in Minneapolis, Minnesota circa 1940s, and was used by the New Grocery & Market Store on 745 E. Park Street. The crate is constructed of wood and metal and was innovative in the way it could be folded flat to allow more space when not being used. When the bottom wood base is flipped into the interior of the box, the crate can be pushed together, making it flat. The crate reads, "New Grocery & Market 745 E. Park St." on both sides in black lettering while the front side reads, "Hubbard's Wire Sewed Folding Box / The First And Original Manufactured By Hubbard Folding Box Co. / Minneapolis, Minn. U.S.A." in black lettering and features a wood burned number "14" above it. The crate shows good useable and display condition with some wear and fading to lettering from years of use and age. The crate folds open and closed with ease and measures 14" L x 17" W x 11 3/4" H when open, and 14 1/2" L x 30 1/2" W when folded close.
