Featured in this lot is this 1918 first edition of “Steep Trail” by John Muir. The book was published by Boston and New York Houghton Mifflin Company in 1918. Muir was a Scottish-American naturalist who campaigned extensively for the preservation of America's wilderness lands. He co-founded the Sierra Club and is often referred to as the "Father of the National Parks". The book is a compilation of accounts and stories of Muir's adventures from 1873 up till 1902, recounting his travels across the American West. This hardcover book contains 12 illustrations throughout the piece showing landscapes and scenes. The book shows a sage green cover with white lettering along the cover and spine and an image of a lake with mountains rising in the background. The condition of this book is good, with wear to the cover of the book, a weak inside spine, and light browning to the pages consistent with the age of this book. The measurements of this book are 8 3/8" x 5 3/4".
