Featured in this lot is this 1920-30s Styleplus Clothing sign from a Styleplus Clothing store in Helena, Montana. Styleplus was a clothing brand that was popular in the United States during the early 20th century. The Styleplus brand was owned and run by Henry Sonneborn & Co., Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of men's clothing with headquarters in New York. The late 19th century saw the establishment of the business, which became well known for creating fine suits, overcoats, and other men's clothing. When the Styleplus brand first appeared in the early 1900s, it was positioned as a more cost-effective alternative to Sonneborn's high-end mens wear while still offering the same level of quality. The company rose to prominence and earned a reputation for its stylish designs and superior value. Styleplus remained a popular option for men's clothing throughout the 1920s and 1930s, but as the Great Depression began in the early 1930s, the brand came up against more competition from less expensive clothing lines. Despite producing clothing for several decades, Henry Sonneborn & Co., Inc.'s Styleplus brand eventually lost its appeal. The sign shows a metal construction with a beige colored background. The sign reads, "Styleplus Clothes" in beige lettering with a black background and below that in small lettering it reads, "Trade Mark Reg.". Inside the arrow, in red lettering it reads, "Helena" and below that it reads," Sam Ciener" in red lettering as well. The sign shows good condition, showing some wear and chipping to the paint and fading to the entirety of the sign but is still in good readable and display condition. The sign measures 23 1/2" L x 35 1/2" W.
