Featured in this lot is this J.B. Moore Navajo Storm Pattern rug circa 1920 to 1930's. Provenance: Ex Hindman, Cowan's Auction; Ex Private Montana Collection and Ex-Hindman / Cowan's; Plate XXVIII variant pg. 21 (Variant from 1911). The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted hand woven wool construction that shows a Storm Pattern with a waterbug design present with Navajo lightening that shows natural handspun wool with natural color and aniline dyes. The rug features lazy lines throughout the rug consistent with the dating of the rug and the design was featured in the J.B. Moore "The Navajo" catalog from 1911 Plate XXVIII page 21. The condition of this Navajo rug is preserved with wear to the side by one of the corners but otherwise shows a preserved overall condition, impressive for its age. The measurements of this rug are 53 1/2" x 40". The thread count of this rug is 50 threads per square inch.
