Included in this lot are two (2) Montana State Prison Deer Lodge Intake Forms "Descriptive List of The Prisoner" for two different inmates from 1924 and 1925 respectively. Both were convicted of stealing horses. Horse theft was the grand theft auto of the 19th century, but contrary to legend, it wasn't a hanging offense in Montana Territory though many wished it were, and some ranchers may indeed have taken the law into their own hands. Both "lists" have mugshots attached, the second has a discharge of sentence notice as well as a certificate of remanding to the prison, two monthly parole report cards, and the official Office of the State Board of Commissioners Helena, Montana order granting parole. These are fantastic, historical Montana documents.
The documents are in good overall condition, age tanning noted. Measurement of largest document is 8.5"W x 14"L
