Featured in this lot is this 1923 1st Ed. of, "The Book of the American Indian" by Hamlin Garland and pictured by Frederic Remington. The book was copy-righted by the author and published by Harper & Brothers in New York. Hannibal Hamlin Garland (1860-1940) was an american novelist, short story writer, poet, psychical researcher and essayist. Garland is known for his collection of western short stories. The book contains numerous Native American short stories and tales. The stories are accompanied by 35 illustrations done by Frederic Remington, with a combination of colored and black & white pieces. Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring images such as cowboys, Native Americans, and the U.S. Cavalry. The book shows good condition overall with light wear to the corners and spine. The interior pages are in good condition with no signs of tears or foxing. The book measures 12 1/4" L x 9" W x 1 7/8" D.
