Offered in this lot we have an Egyptian celluloid butterfly beaded purse originating from the 1930's. In 1922 British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered of King Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The wealth, beauty and artistry he uncovered astounded the world. Everything from fashion to architecture embraced this new and wonderful 3000 year old imagery. This stunning beaded bag features wonderful carved celluloid clasp depicting a butterfly hand painted a dark green. The bag displays geometric patterns with a fully beaded carry strap. The bag shows a variety of colored beads including black, blue, white, and pink. The interior of the purse displays a green cloth lining with yellow trim. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear due to age with some damage to the lining. The purse measures 9" tall by 6" wide.
