Featured in this lot is the First Edition of, “The Story of Yellowstone Geysers” by Clyde Max Bauer, Ph.D., 1937. This book features an approval by National Park Services. This edition is illustrated by Jack Ellis Haynes, the famous official photographer of Yellowstone and other National Parks. The many Haynes photographs are what make this edition special. The vintage black and white photography captures the beauty and power of the geysers. Geysers are a natural phenomenon found only iin a few places in the world thus they fascinate us with their behaviour and striking beauty. An early scientific examination of the geysers at Yellowstone National Park. The author was the park naturalist and used his geologic experience and the extensive catalogue of official photographs from the Haynes photographers to bring a very instructive and attractive volume. At the end of the book is an alphabetical reference list of over one hundred geysers with facts about each. A map of Yellowstone locates the different geyser basins, mud volcanoes, hot springs, etc... The olive cloth bound book has an illustrated image of Old Faithful geyser erupting on the front cover, is in good overall condition, slight scuffing noted to cover edges, foxing and age tanning noted.
