Offered in this lot are three Mid-century (1940s - 1950s) travel books including, "Treasures of Yellowstone National Park", "Custer Battlefield", and "Mickey Sees the U.S.A." "Mickey Sees the U.S.A." was published in 1944. The book was written by Caroline Dwight Emerson and illustrated by Disney artists in the Merchandise and Publicity Art Department. It’s not known which Disney artist was responsible for the art found in the Heath books, but an amazing point to note is the fact that each illustration was inked and painted on cels like the ones used in the films. This technique gave each illustration a three-dimensional appearance. "Custer Battlefield", by Edward S. and Evelyn S. Luce, was a national park historical handbook published by the National Park Service, a 1957 reprint of the original 1949 edition; a history & guide to the Battle of Little Bighorn in Crow Agency, Montana. Green covers, front with dark green sillouette of soldiers and mounted Sioux Indian Chief in long eagle feather headdress, rear cover depicts the Seventh Cavalry regimental insigne, Garry Owen. "Treasures Of Yellowstone National Park" is a vintage, softcover bound and string tied spine Yellowstone National Park souvenir book filled with 18 beautiful tinted prints taken by Frank Haynes. Haynes, the official photographer of Yellowstone National Park from its inception until his death, is considered to be the most famous photographer of the wild American West landscape of his time.
