Featured in this lot is this U.S. Department of the Interior Fish & Wildlife Service porcelain enamel sign circa 1940-50s. This sign would have been posted on National Wildlife Refuge land to warn travelers that the land prohibits hunting, trapping and trespassing. The sign shows a single sided porcelain enamel construction with a white background and blue lettering reading, "U.S. Department of the Interior Fish And Wildlife Service / National Wildlife Refuge Hunting Trapping Trespassing Prohibited / $500 Fine Six Months Imprisonment or Both For Molesting Wildlife or Damaging Property On This Refuge". It shows fair condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years. Slight damage noted with worn off enamel, oxidization, scratching and bending present. The sign measures 15 3/8" L x 13" W and weighs 2 pounds and 8 ounces.
