Featured in this lot is this circa 1950'sDeer Lodge, MT prison hitched horsehair headstall. This lovely hitched headstall crafted by an inmate at the Deer Lodge Prison from the 1960's. This tightly woven headstall shows a dyed horsehair construction. The brow band has an intricately woven with southwestern style geometric patterns that shows Turkshead knots with tassels hanging from the cheek pieces and the throat latch. The nose band and cheek pieces show a geometric pattern in the same yellow and white dyed coloration. A truly unique and desirable piece of this headstall is the woven Montana design on the head piece. The condition of this of this prison made headstall is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this headstall is 28" x 7 1/2" x 4 3/4". The collective weight of this headstall is 12oz.
