For your consideration is this vintage 1950s Rocky Mountain Beer cone top can from Anaconda Brewing Company in Anaconda, Montana. Joe Paul and Joseph Steger founded the first Anaconda Brewery in Anaconda, Montana, close to Walnut and West Fourth Streets. John V. Petritz later joined the business. Henry Mueller assumed management of the Anaconda Brewery around 1900. Moreover, Mueller was a part-owner of the Olympia Brewery and owned the Centennial Brewery in Butte, the Billings Brewery, and both. Adam Tuchscherer was named the brewery's president in 1908. When Prohibition began in Montana in 1916, all breweries and liquor businesses shut their doors. The Anaconda Brewing Company continued to bottle soft drinks after changing its name to Anaconda Products Company. In 1927, the Anaconda Walnut Street Brewery's equipment was sold to a Canadian brewery, and the structure was demolished. Tuchscherer purchased all of the brewery's shares when it went dry. On July 1, 1933, Adam Tuchscherer and his two sons, Arthur and Walter, reopened the Anaconda Brewing Company at 1200 East Park in Anaconda, Montana, following the end of Montana's Prohibition in 1926. Until a new extension was built on the brewery's Park Street side in 1939, the bottling facility and office were still located on Walnut Street. After Adam Tuchscherer passed away in 1944, Rocky Mountain Beer was still produced until 1955 by Adam and Walter. The Sugrue Bottling Company took over the Anaconda Brewery's soft drink division after it shut down in 1958. The can shows a gold colored metal construction on the top, with a grey background around the can. The can shows a red banner through the middle with, "Rocky Mountain" in white lettering and an image of a mountain range above the banner. Below the red banner it reads, "Beer" in black lettering. Below that in small black lettering it reads, "Brewed And Filled By Anaconda Brewing Co. Anaconda, Montana". The can shows good condition with no dents or creases. Some of the grey background has been scuffed away and the can is missing the cap. The can measures 2 5/8" in diameter and 5 1/2" in height.
