For your consideration is this 1965 1st edition of "The Red Man's West - True Stories of the Frontier Indians" selected and edited by Michael S. Kennedy and published by Hastings House in New York. The book tells the story of the dim and still little known pre-Columbian epoch to the amazing overland journey of Lewis and Clark, from the arrival of horses, trade goods, whisky and white-man religion to the testing-of-strength time that saw the red man's cause reach its pinnacle at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and ebb away in reservation hardship and near-starvation on to its nadir in the brutal, bloody slaughter at Wounded Knee. The book shows a dust jacket with a picture of three Native Americans sitting around a small fire in a teepee passing a pipe. The dust jacket is worn from age and shows fair condition, The original red cloth hardcover is in good condition and shows the title in black embossed lettering. The interior pages are in good condition with no signs of tears or foxing present. The book is full of illustrations and photos. The book measures 9 3/4" L x 7 1/2" W x 1 1/4" D.
