Featured in this lot is this 1967 "Jukebox" pinball machine designed by Wendell McAdams and manufactured by the Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in Chicago, Illinois. The pinball machine is distinctive for its rock 'n' roll and pinball theme, and it has a working jukebox that plays music as the player shoots the ball. In the 1960s and 1970s, Wendell McAdams was a well-known pinball creator. He started out in design for the Bally Manufacturing Company, where he created the well-known pinball machines "Surf Club," "Bowling Queen," and "Bazaar." He left Bally in 1966 and went to work for the Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company. While there, he helped create some of the business's most popular pinball machines, including "Juke Box," "Kings and Queens," and "Apollo." One of the biggest producers of pinball machines and other coin-operated games in the US was the Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company, established in 1932 by Samuel G. Ingram. The business, which had its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, was well-known for its cutting-edge designs and superior goods. The company produced arcade games, slot machines, and other coin-operated devices in addition to pinball machines. The Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company was one of the best manufacturers of pinball machines in the 1960s and 1970s, and many of its creations went on to become cult favorites. The company eventually went out of business in 1977, as a result of increased competition from video games and other electronic entertainment devices in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The back glass of the machine shows the title in white and red lettering reading, "Juke Box" with the manufacturer above it in white lettering reading, "Chicago Coins". There are images of men and women singing and dancing in bright colored clothes. The back glass also shows point trackers for players 1 through 4. The playing board shows a variety of targets, bumpers and light up lights and features flippers at the bottom for hitting the ball. The main feature is a spinning contraption in the center of the playing board. It shows colors of blue, light blue, yellow, orange red and black. The pinball machine shows fair condition with some chipped paint to the reverse painted back glass and is missing the main glass over the playing board. The back wiring components are cut in some areas. There is fading to the paint throughout. The machine has not been tested for functionality. The machine measures 54 1/2" L x 28 1/8" W x 69 1/4" H.
